A Better Chance Strath Haven – Resident Tutor

A Better Chance Strath Haven – Resident Tutor Position
Since 1963, A Better Chance (ABC) has been opening the door to educational opportunities for thousands of young people of color in this nation. ABC’s mission is to substantially increase the number of well-educated young people of color who are capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society.
ABC Strath Haven is a residential program serving low-income high school scholars whose families reside in areas such as New York City, Washington D.C., and Baltimore. ABC Scholars live in Swarthmore, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia on the Media-Elwyn train line, while attending high school at award-winning Strath Haven High School in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District. We are currently seeking two Resident Tutors for the 2020-21 school year. The ABC house is located in the heart of Swarthmore, and is within easy walking distance to the Swarthmore train station (Media-Elwyn line). We welcome applicants who plan on attending classes or working in the city.
Overview
During the academic year, Resident Tutors reside in the ABC house with the scholars and two Resident Directors. The primary role of a Resident Tutor is to supervise evening study hall and provide mentorship and academic support to the scholars.
