Three Gorgeous Cats In Need of Homes

Three beautiful indoor, altered, male cats in need of being rehomed after owned passed away. Bowie (7 years old) is a gorgeous soft grey, with beautiful eyes and a friendly personality. Ziggy (a green-eyed 7 year old tabby) is Mr. Congeniality and wants to be everywhere you are. Grizzly (an 11 year old tabby with golden eyes) is Mr. Majestic, is peacefully confident and does not require constant attention. Looking for occasional morning childcare in Swarthmore

Hi! We’re looking for an early bird who is interested in an occasional gig for extra cash. We are moving from Philly to Swarthmore (a few blocks from campus) this May and have a 21ish month son Freddy who will need occasional morning care!

We have a wonderful full time nanny who lives in the city and is planning to continue to work with our family via train commute, but the train schedule would not allow her to get to us early enough for some of our earliest days. We both work in healthcare and our schedules are all over the place (changing day-to-day and week-to-week), but on days we both have a shift our house might empty out as early as 630 (more rare) or 7AM. We could envision the commitment being anywhere from 2-3 hours depending on your preference/logistics. It would not be on a regular schedule (since our schedules are irregular) but we would know the dates we’d need someone at least a month in advance. Looking back at the last few months we would have needed someone around 3-6 mornings per month, though it would of course vary.

Of note: this spring/summer you’d hand off to our awesome nanny, and starting in Fall we’d probably have you take him to nursery school (starts at 9:15, 2 min drive or pretty 20 min walk through campus).

If things are working out, we’d definitely hit you up for date night babysitting/other occasional childcare needs if that’s of interest, though there’d be no pressure.

We know this sounds a little crazy (and also realize many people who are interested may not be on campus this summer) but figured it didn’t hurt to ask! Happy to answer any questions. Thank you for considering!

Violin player

I am looking to hire a fiddler/violinist to play a few pieces at the memorial service for my mother.

The service is at the Swarthmore Friends Meeting in the afternoon on April 19th.

She lived in Swarthmore for almost 70 years. She played violin as she taught folk dancing to children. She accompanied Christmas carolers and services at church. She stood up and played ‘Ashokin Fairwell’ at her own mother’s service. The procedural memory carried on so that she could play by ear even as dementia set in.

She was a peace and justice activist who worked to make things right, stand witness, and make sure everyone was fed along the way.

Afternoon Childcare Help Needed – Media, PA (Near Swarthmore)

We’re a busy family in Media with two kids — an almost 4-year-old and a 6-month-old — and we’re looking for a warm, reliable helper to join us on a part-time basis for afternoon and evening support.

Both kids are in full-time childcare / school during the day, so this role is all about afternoon and evening coverage: think school/daycare pickups, playing with our 4 yo, diaper changes for the baby, helping get dinner on the table, tidying up, and occasionally doing bath time. You’d essentially be an extra set of capable, caring hands — helping us do more of what we already do as parents.

**What we’re looking for:**
• 1–3 afternoons/week, roughly 4–7 PM (flexible on exact days and schedule structure)
• Reliability is everything — whether we agree on a fixed or flexible schedule, we need someone we can count on
• Having a car, a clean driving record, and comfort with car seat safety is required
• Someone who genuinely enjoys being with young children and can build real relationships with our kids over time
• Light child-related housekeeping is part of the role (cleaning up dinner, picking up toys, etc.)

**Ideal candidate:**
• Current college or graduate student, particularly those studying education, child development, nursing, or a related field — though we welcome any background if you love kids and are responsible
• Prior childcare experience, especially with infants and toddlers
• CPR certification a plus
• Able to pass a background check and provide references

**About the schedule:** We’d love someone who can take on more days when one of us is traveling for work, and 1–2 days/week during quieter stretches. We know that variable availability may not work for everyone, so please be upfront about your needs — we’re happy to discuss.

**Compensation:** Competitive and commensurate with experience.
